This Sassy | Chic | Geek!

Hi, I’m Charise! (she/her/hers)

SassyChicGeek is the way that I show up in the world as the best version of myself to create engaging experiences. As a first-generation college graduate, I had to learn a lot of things about life through trial and error. I didn’t always make the best decisions, but I learned valuable lessons that have helped form the foundation of my core beliefs:

  • I have a voice and when I speak, I will be heard (sassy).

  • I live my life and express myself by my own rules (chic).

  • My brainpower is my ultimate power (geek).

With SassyChicGeek, I get to merge my passion for celebrating the diversity of people, things and ideas with creating engaging experiences that inspire us to have poppin’ conversations and create meaningful change. My career spans across 20 years where I worked in a variety of corporate, nonprofit and government organizations focused on marketing, small business and economic development.

When I was in college, I had the opportunity to intern and work at a variety of Fortune 500 companies because I lived in New York City. I started my career in the publishing sector where I developed marketing campaigns for science magazines. l eventually transitioned into the public sector and my first nonprofit role was at an education nonprofit in NYC where I connected corporate partners to public schools. I eventually transitioned into the world of small business and economic development, but volunteered and worked with various other youth organizations.

In every role that I had, I was responsible for educating people to successfully perform their jobs; build and grow new businesses; and contribute to a variety of social change initiatives. I met a lot of amazing people; gained invaluable skills; stumbled along the journey to understanding my purpose; and built a wealth of knowledge that I am excited to share in a fun, sassy way through SassyChicGeek. I currently live in the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia), but like to have poppin’ conversations all over the place!
