3. The Algorithm Is Glitching
The Algorithm is Glitching
Hustle Propaganda is Trending Again
What started out as a mild concern in rising HCT levels is starting to concern the citizens. Many are speculating about the rumors while experiencing their own levels of stress rising.
When Explorin’ Esperanza met up with Vintage Flossie for their weekly catch up at Clock It! Café, they started to talk about some of their favorite influencers posting about working and grinding harder. Esperanza showed a video that their favorite influencer, Soleil Serenity posted. Soleil said that hustle culture is a part of daily life outside of Sasstopia and that they needed to accept the fact that it will show up there too. She is encouraging her followers to change their mindset and adopt the hustle culture grind. Esperanza and Flossie don’t buy into that narrative and decided to put her on mute. The only problem is that the algorithm is starting to feed them with more hustle culture content.
Meanwhile at the Office of Ease, Danica Downloads meets with her team, Karina and the United Vibes of Adyllide to talk about the source of the rising HCT levels. It appears that they are coming from digital sources infiltrating social media feeds, for you pages and the like. The posts are being show from people outside of Sasstopia, for the most part and they are promoting rise and grind inspiration to fear-monger people into hustle culture behaviors. Danica wants feels like the changes in algorithm are enough to warrant a digital detox alert. The HCT levels are not high enough to force people to get off of social media, but a reminder for those feeling like they need a timeline cleanse.
When Mayor Tiggy met with Mixin’ Mo, the Ministry of Mindset, she got pretty upset to hear that the rising levels of HCT were infiltrating the algorithms. Mayor Tiggy wishes that people outside of Sasstopia would mind their business. She feels like people are threatened by the idea of a city where people are not hustling so hard to have a decent quality of life. To Mayor Tiggy, these are basic things that everyone deserves to have. She doesn’t understand why so many people are threatened by this idea that we can live simpler and softer while still maintaining a great quality of life. She tells Mo that they need to issue a broadcast to remind people not to get caught up in the hustle from the algorithms, listen to the digital detox alert from the Office of Ease and continue to remember that Sasstopia is anti-hustle, anti-grind and that they don’t have to perform to prove their worth.
What was supposed to be a dinner between best friends to celebrate Mak Maker’s new clothing line at The Sassy Boutique, turned into an algorithmic-fueled conversation. They spent much of their dinner talking about all the mess they are seeing on their social media feeds and how upset they are about it. They talk about everyone arguing with each other online over nonsense and are upset that their feeds seem to be taken over by hustle culture posts that promote fear, working harder and burnout. Angelique calls this state algorithmic hunger that feeds off of constant negative engagement. They don’t want to get caught up in the mess and decided to listen to the digital detox alert. Besides, they have more important things to discuss – including the launch of Mak’s new clothing line.
Seems like HCT levels continue to rise. So far, Sasstopia has dealt with early warning reports, gridlock and increasing stress, algorithmic shifts. What could possibly happen next? Mayor Tiggy is trying to get ahead of the rumors, but she’ll need to take more drastic measures to avoid pure chaos in Sasstopia. Nobody wants that. Want to have some fun?
